My Work at Meditech in Framingham, MA

Ten of my pieces were acquired by Meditech for their corporate art collection in Framingham, MA this past March. Yesterday I visited the facility and took pictures of the work hanging in their new home.

Seasonal Fences #1 Four Seasons are shown above and below. From left to right, there is Summer, Winter, Autumn and Spring.

Slivers of Fences #1 - #6 are shown above.

I am especially thankful to Meditech for adding me to their art collection, and also for having an art collection. Very few corporations do, and it's wonderful that Meditech does!

Pictures of Me Taking Pictures of My Work

This past March, Meditech (Medical Information Technology, Inc.), in Framingham, MA acquired 10 of my pieces for their corporate art collection, Slivers of Fences #1 - #6 and Seasonal Fences #1 Four Seasons. This afternoon I had the opportunity to go to the facility and take pictures of the work hanging in their new home. I'll need a little bit of time to get the images off of my camera and on to my website, but here are two pictures of me taking pictures, as a little teaser. I'll post the pictures I took here, and on my website, ASAP.

Acquisition

Meditech (Medical Information Technology, Inc.), in Framingham, MA has acquired 10 of my pieces for their corporate art collection, Slivers of Fences #1 - #6 and Seasonal Fences #1 Four Seasons.

The Slivers of Fences series is a combination of monoprinted textures of orange construction fences that are painted and stitched. They are mixed media on 18" x 18" x 1.5" cradled board, and were created in 2010.

These are some of the first fabric pieces I created and mounted on boards after I stopped quilting my work two plus years ago. I especially love them because there's a lot of stitching and it not only gives them a lot of texture on the hard boards, but they cause viewers to stop and think about how I made them, and it created a lot of conversation which I really enjoyed.

The Seasonal Fences series are abstractions of different colors of fences in contrast to the landscape during different seasons. They are mixed media on 22" x 10" x 1" cradled board, and were created in 2011.

Seasonal Fences - Winter shows the landscape after the snow has fallen around the fence.

Seasonal Fences - Spring shows small Spring flowers that are starting to grow as the grass around it does too.

Seasonal Fences - Summer shows both flowers and hostas as they are growing on a very healthy lawn.

Seasonal Fences - Autumn shows the ground after the plants have died back, and some fallen leaves are still on the ground.

I created 20 pieces in this series, five for each season, with each of the five having different colors of fences and slight variations in texture, pattern and color. Seasonal Fences #1 Four Seasons has silver fences, that resemble the color of chain linked fences. The other four sets of panels have white, orange, dark green, and brown panels to resemble other styles of fences.

For anyone not familiar with the company, this is a description about Meditech on wikipedia: “Medical Information Technology, Inc., commonly known as MEDITECH, is a Massachusetts-based software and service company selling information systems, which are installed in health care organizations throughout the world.”

After the work is framed and hung in the building, I’ll visit and take pictures, and I’ll then post them here on my blog and also on my website.

I am really happy to be a part of Meditech’s corporate art collection and I especially thank them for collecting work by local artists.

More Slivers of Fences

Here are two more in my "Slivers of Fences" series. They are mixed media on cradled board, and measure 18" x 18" x 1.5". Above is Slivers of Fences #5 and below is Slivers of Fences #6.

I now have six completed in this series, and I'm planning on exhibiting them in my upcoming show with Catherine Carter, "Walls and Webs" at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA.

The complete Slivers of Fences series (so far) can be seen on my website, as well as other new work I've created on boards so far this year.

Here are two more pieces in my new "Slivers of Fences" series. They are mixed media on cradled board, and are 18" x 18" x 1.5".

I'm planning on creating two more in the next week or so, so they'll be available to be hung in my upcoming show with Catherine Carter, "Walls and Webs" at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA.

All four can be seen on my website, as can the other new work I've created on boards so far this year.

New Series - Slivers of Fences

Here are the first two pieces in a new series "Slivers of Fences," which is influenced by Orange Construction Fence Series #17/36. As I discussed on February 9th, I've wanted to make more work that incorporated slivers of construction fences for many years now.

The "Slivers of Fences" series is mixed media on cradled board, and are 18" x 18" x 1.5".

My plan is to have a total of six complete before Catherine Carter and I hang our show "Walls and Webs" at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA, the second week of March.

I have finished painting two more, and I'm almost finished stitching them. Then I will mount them on the boards, and will post pictures of them here on my blog and also on my website. The first two are already on my website, as is all of the other new work I've created on boards so far this year.
