On Exhibit: Fence Patterned Chuppah #8
Fence Patterned Chuppah #8 is on exhibit in the Community of Artists show at Danforth Art in Framingham, MA, through August 2, 2015.
Fence Patterned Chuppah #8 mixed media on stiffened fabric. It measures 48" x 75", and is one piece in the ten-part Fence Patterned Chuppah series that I created in the spring of 2014, when I was the Artist-in-Residence at the Hadassah-Brandeis Institute at Brandeis University, Waltham, MA.
There are two shows running concurrently at the Danforth Art, Off the Wall and A Community of Artists. If you can get to the Danforth while both shows are up, you'll be happy you did. There are many talented artists included in both shows, and a lot of great art to see.

Under Color Exhibit Last Week
My solo show, Under Color, will be open for viewing for one more week, through Thursday, May 22nd. It's at the Kniznick Gallery, in the Women’s Studies Research Center, in the Brandeis University's Epstein Building at 515 South Street, Waltham, MA (across from Brandeis/Roberts commuter rail station).
All of the work in Under Color was created while I was an Artist-in-Residence at the Hadassah-Brandeis Institute at Brandeis. Working on site for four weeks at the Kniznick Gallery, I created a 10-piece series of Jewish wedding canopies, or chuppot, to be displayed in the gallery during the exhibition.

On Exhibit: Under Color!
After completing a month long Artist-in-Residence at the Hadassah-Brandeis Institute at Brandeis University, where I made 10 construction fence-patterned chuppahs (Jewish wedding canopies), I am very proud to say that...
... my solo show, Under Color, is now on exhibit at the Kniznick Gallery in the Women’s Studies Research Center at Brandeis, through May 22, 2014. The Opening reception is Wednesday, April 23rd from 5 - 7 pm. Please join us if you can.
Included in the show are Fence Patterned Chuppah Series #1 - #10. This series is created with monoprinted, handstamped, handpainted, and stiffened fabric. The simple printmaking techniques bring pattern and color to the traditional chuppah.
In addition to the chuppahs, there are also a series of small paintings I created, the Tallis and Fence Series. These paintings are created with acrylic "skins" from photos of my grandfather's tallis (prayer shawl), that are collaged on monoprinted textures of construction fences on fabric that is stitched, painted, and mounted on 8" x 6" cradled board.
In addition to the Opening reception on Wednesday, April 23rd from 5 - 7 pm, you are also invited to the following events:
Artist’s Workshop: Wednesday, April 30, 12 - 2 pm: I will lead a workshop in printing on fabric. Drop in at any time during the session to engage in a hands-on experience.
Gallery Talk: Wednesday, May 7, 2-3 pm
Additional programming: coming soon
The Kniznick Gallery in the Women’s Studies Research Center is in the Epstein Building, at 515 South Street in Waltham, MA (across from Brandeis/Roberts commuter rail station).
The gallery is open Monday - Friday from 9 - 5 pm. or by appointment. Special weekend hours are Saturday, April 26, 11-3 pm, and Saturday, May 3, 11-3 pm.
All events will be held at the WSRC and are free and open to the public.
