12 x 12 x 12 December 2015 is the final piece in my 2015 12 x 12 x 12 series that incorporates pictures of snow from last winter, with monoprinted construction fence fabric.
For this piece, I used scraps from the Seasonal
Fences - Spring series, which includes Seasonal Fences - Spring #3, the piece licensed by Crate & Barrel.
The December piece also marks the end
of my ninth year working on my 12 x 12 x 12 series. This series has given me time to create one 12" x 12" x 1" mixed media
piece each month. It's been a wonderful opportunity for me to
experiment with an idea or technique or a combination of both. Some of the
pieces over the months and years have been really good, and others not so much.
The only rules I've had are that I have make something in the given month,
and I can't throw the work out, even if it's unsuccessful.
I've committed (by buying twelve new 12" x 12" boards) to continue this series into 2016. In 2016, my new inspiration for
collaged acrylic photos are from this past autumn. I've been reviewing them, and I'm starting to think ahead about using both black and white photos as well as photos with full fall colors
of leaves, or pine needles, on grass or the side of the road. Please stay tuned for new work in January.
