This is the last week to see All Boundaries are Imagined, Denise Driscoll and Jeanne Williamson, at Fountain Street Fine Art, in Framingham, Massachusetts. Our exhibit closes on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at 5pm. I'll be gallery sitting on Sunday from 11am - 3pm if you want to stop by for a special tour.
Here is information about our exhibit:
In All Boundaries Are Imagined, Denise Driscoll and Jeanne Williamson investigate the formality and flexibility of the grid, moving from strictly distributed squares to layers of riotous color and marks that all but obliterate the underlying structure.
Denise Driscoll showcases work from Cipher with maze-like translations of the human genome equally reminiscent of game boards and Byzantine icons. Also included are the geometric accumulations of Circles that explore similarities between personal, micro- and macroscopic perspectives.
Jeanne Williamson incorporates the different grid patterns of construction fences with black and white photos of bubbles, cracks, and skating marks gathered from the ice and snow of last winter. The holes and gridded shapes of the fences become containers for her manipulated and collaged photos, sewing, and painting.
Together, these artists entertain the grid as a welcome constraint as well as a mutable point of departure.
