There are five pieces in the Holes in the Fences series, which are abstractions of construction fences and their holes.
The inspiration came from the scraps of "holes" that were left over from my Weathered Fences series. Both were created in 2010 when I started to making work on boards, or on stiffened fabric, instead of quilting it. It was a natural but big change in the way I created my work, and one that I have fully embraced.
Holes in the Fences #2 is mixed media on 24" x 18" x 1.5" cradled board.
