Working with the textures of
construction fences (as per usual), as well as thread
clippings left over from the how-to book I've been writing, I created this 12 x 12 x 12 for April 2012.
I've been thinking about how
to incorporate thread clippings into my work for just about a year now. I feel
good about the piece I created with black threads in June 2011, and now I have this
piece that I'm quite happy with.
I love how the colored threads
look like they’re drawn lines! Fun, fun, fun. There are many possibilities I
can investigate for future work.
This image shows what the group of threads looked like after I added matt medium to keep
them together as a group. I admit that I was a bit nervous cutting into it (after it was dry) because
I liked it so much, but I took a deep breath and did it, and I'm glad.
If you happen to have any
thread clippings you want to send me, please don't hesitate to write to
me at jeanne@jeannewilliamson.com
so I can give you my address. I'm interested in any colors of clippings
available. I already have some donations, but I could use more.
The 12 x 12 x 12 monthly series is mixed media on 12" x
12" x 1" board. You can read past posts about it here on my blog, or
see all of the completed work on my website.
