New Work: 12 x 12 x 12 September 2018

I created 12 x 12 x 12 September 2018 with pieces of lace from some discarded clothing, and also a piece of monoprinted fabric from a construction fence I had hanging out in my studio. I mounted the lace on the board first, then the monoprinted fabric, and then added the white dots with acrylic paint.

I've been working on my 12 x 12 x 12 series since January 2007. I'm 3/4 of the way into my 12th year. It has given me time to create one 12" x 12" x 1" piece on board each month, no matter how many other things are going on that month. It's been a wonderful opportunity for me to experiment with an idea or technique or a combination of both. This series is really about experimentation and creating something on a regular basis, no matter what else is going on in my life. Sometimes I like a piece, and sometimes not.

I've pretty much decided that this is the last year I'm going to work on this series. I'll explain more about that decision later.
