New Work: 12 x 12 x 12 July 2018

For personal reasons, I needed to get my 12 x 12 x 12 July 2018 painting done by the middle of this upcoming week, and here it is. Once again I had no idea what to do, but on my work table there are pieces of leftover fabric pieces from my Dates in a Life Project 2018, and I decided to use some of the smaller ones.

I mounted a number of them on board, trying to match the the stitching up as best as possible. Then I stamped the rectangle and square shaped rubber eraser stamps using fabric paint in the open spaces between the stitched lines. When they were dry, I painted acrylic pants inside the lines of the stamped images.

I've been working on my 12 x 12 x 12 series since January 2007. I'm now past the middle of my 12th year. It has given me time to create one 12" x 12" x 1" piece on board each month, no matter how many other things are going on that month. It's a wonderful opportunity for me to experiment with an idea or technique or a combination of both. This series is really about experimentation and creating something on a regular basis, no matter what else is going on in my life. Sometimes I like a piece, and sometimes not.
