Influenced by my drop cloth series "Traces of Past Fences," I decided to use leftover strips when creating my March 12 x 12 x 12 piece.
The strips are attached to a 12" x 12" x 1" canvas with Golden Heavy Gel (Matte), instead of watered down Utrecht Acrylic Matt Medium, because many of the strips were already stiff from having the matt medium on them and I needed a stronger "glue" to hold them down. The surface texture on the finished piece looks almost encaustic-like up close, though it's not entirely flat.
