Book: Contemporary Quilt Art: An Introduction and Guide
"Contemporary Quilt Art: An Introduction and Guide," by Kate Lenkowsky discusses Studio Quilts (aka Art Quilts, Quilt Art, and etc), how they evolved from traditional quilts, as well as how to buy, collect and commission works, and how to display, care, store and insure the work once you own it. There are 19 artists whose work and careers are presented, and there are works by other artists scattered throughout the book.
The photos are beautiful, the book is easy to read, and the chapters are laid out very well. I love that there's a glossary at the back of the book, as well as a list of museums, galleries and organizations that exhibit/promote Studio Quilts in one way or another.
This is a book that can be read cover to cover, or can be read in different sections as time permits. The information is fully explained, so you won't get lost if you skip around.
If you read Kate's book, look for my Orange Construction Fence Series #29, on page 185.
